Terms of Service

1. The Service

LifeTag is a physical wearable (wristband, keychain/clip, or pet tag) embedded with a QR code and/or NFC chip that links to an online emergency profile. When scanned, the code displays emergency information you have chosen to provide — such as medical conditions, allergies, medications, blood group, and emergency contacts — without requiring the scanner to install an app, create an account, or pay a fee.

LifeTag does not require a battery, subscription, or companion app to function. The accuracy, completeness, and currency of the information displayed depends entirely on what you submit and keep updated.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to purchase a LifeTag or create a profile. Profiles for minors, dependents, or pets must be created and maintained by a parent, legal guardian, or responsible adult.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any login credentials associated with your profile and for all activity under your account.

You must provide accurate registration and profile information and promptly update it if it changes.

3. Your Responsibilities

By using the Service, you agree that:

• Accuracy is your responsibility. You are solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of any medical, personal, or contact information you upload. LifeTag does not independently verify this information.
• Visibility. Information attached to a LifeTag profile is visible to anyone who scans the QR code or taps the NFC chip, including strangers, first responders, and other third parties. Do not include information you are not comfortable being publicly accessible via the physical tag.
• Lawful use. You will not use the Service to submit false, misleading, defamatory, obscene, or unlawful content, or to impersonate another person or animal's guardian.
• Physical tag care. You are responsible for the physical LifeTag device, including reasonable care to keep the QR code/NFC chip scannable. Wear and tear, damage, or loss of the physical tag is not covered under these Terms unless separately addressed by an applicable warranty or return policy.
• Account security. You will notify us promptly at connect@thetagforlife.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your profile or loss of your LifeTag device.

4. Medical & Emergency Disclaimer

LifeTag is an information-sharing tool. It is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, or substitute for professional medical advice, emergency services, or the independent judgment of first responders, medical professionals, or any other person.

We do not guarantee that any person will scan your LifeTag in an emergency, that scanning will occur promptly, or that the information will be acted upon.

We do not guarantee compatibility with every smartphone, scanner, or NFC reader, or that the QR code/NFC chip will remain functional for the lifetime of the physical product.

LifeTag is not a replacement for calling emergency services, wearing legally required medical alert devices, or informing caregivers, family, or medical providers of critical conditions through other means.

In a medical emergency, always contact local emergency services first.

5. Data & Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we collect, how it is stored, and how publicly-scannable profile data is handled.

Because certain fields are, by design, visible to anyone scanning the tag, you should carefully choose what to include. You may update or remove your profile information at any time through the app or by contacting us.

6. Fees, Orders & No Subscription

LifeTag products are sold on a one-time-purchase basis. There is no recurring subscription fee to maintain a basic emergency profile. Prices, shipping charges, and applicable taxes are shown at checkout and may change without notice for future orders. Order confirmation, shipping, returns, and replacement policies are as stated on our website at the time of purchase.

7. Intellectual Property

The LifeTag name, logo, website, app, and underlying software are owned by The Tag for Life and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the Service except as necessary for your personal, non-commercial use of your own LifeTag profile.

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to harass, defraud, or impersonate any person;
• Attempt to access another user's profile or account without authorization;
• Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to bypass the security of the Service;
• Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access or extract data from the Service without our written permission;
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our prior written consent.

9. Third-Party Services & Links

The Service may link to or rely on third-party platforms (e.g., hosting, payment processors, mapping/QR infrastructure). We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party services, and your use of them may be subject to separate terms.

10. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or to protect the integrity of the Service. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you where appropriate.

You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your profile at any time by contacting connect@thetagforlife.com, subject to our data retention obligations under applicable law.

11. Changes to the Service or These Terms

We may update these Terms or modify, add, or discontinue features of the Service from time to time. Where changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users (such as by posting an updated "Last updated" date or emailing registered users). Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement.
• The Tag for Life shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of life, personal injury, medical outcomes, loss of data, or loss of profits, arising from or related to your use or inability to use the Service.
• Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the LifeTag product giving rise to the claim.
• Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Indian law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Tag for Life, its founders, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, misuse of the Service, or the information you submit to your profile.

14. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Gurgaon, Haryana, India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

15. Grievance Redressal

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made thereunder, the details of our Grievance Officer are provided below. If you have any complaints or concerns regarding the Service or these Terms, please reach out and we will address it within the timelines prescribed by applicable law.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any order-specific terms provided at checkout, constitute the entire agreement between you and The Tag for Life regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
